Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to prep your nails:
- Remove Old Polish: If you have any existing nail polish on your nails, use a gentle nail polish remover to completely remove it. Make sure to choose a remover that is acetone-free if your nails are prone to dryness or brittleness.
- Trim and Shape: Use a nail clipper to trim your nails to your desired length. Then, use a nail file to shape them. File your nails in one direction to prevent splitting and weakening.
- Push Back Cuticles: Gently push back your cuticles using a cuticle pusher or an orangewood stick. Be careful not to cut your cuticles, as they protect your nail beds from infection.
- Exfoliate: If your nails are looking dull or have any rough patches, you can use a gentle nail buffer to smooth out the surface of your nails. This will help the polish adhere better and result in a smoother finish.
